Since its inception in 1964, Miller’s Health Systems has remained a trusted choice for compassionate care among Indiana families. Initially family owned, the company has since grown beyond traditional nursing home services. Today, Miller’s facilities offer a wide array of care services, including rehabilitation, adult day care, assisted living, and long-term nursing care. Some of our facilities also cater to individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or those in need of hospice care. Our commitment to providing quality care extends to ensuring that individuals can receive support close to their homes. Besides our Miller’s facilities, we operate a therapy company and have partnered with a home health care company.
Over a decade ago, Miller’s Health Systems underwent a transformation, becoming a 100% employee-owned company with a dedicated workforce throughout Indiana. Our emphasis on education, technology, and quality care has earned us recognition, and we stand as one of the largest 100% employee-owned healthcare providers in the nation.
Job Description
Nursing Assistant Training
Miller’s is pleased to offer a complimentary Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program for individuals interested in pursuing a career in this field.
Qualifications
Classroom Instruction
Every student must successfully complete 36-40 hours of classroom instruction. During this phase, all tests must be passed with a minimum score of 80%. Each student is allowed up to 3 attempts to pass the tests.
Students unable to pass the classroom phase will not proceed to the clinicals.
Clinical Practicum
All students are required to complete 75 hours of supervised practicum in a long-term care facility. During the clinical practicum, students must demonstrate successful execution of all required skills. The initial 16 hours of the clinical practicum will be under the guidance of the class instructor, and any absences during this period will lead to exclusion from the program.
Throughout the clinical practicum, students may receive guidance from a preceptor to enhance organization and time management skills. Upon program completion, both the preceptor and the instructor will evaluate the student’s progress during the clinical phase.
Any skills checklists (RCP’s) not signed during the classroom phase must be demonstrated and signed off by the clinical instructor or another licensed nursing professional during the clinicals. A completed checklist (RCP) with all required skills is mandatory for eligibility for the state exam.
A “clinical sign-in record” will be provided to each student. This record must be completed daily, showing the date, actual hours worked, and signatures of the student and qualified licensed supervisor.
Additional Information
Students are required to pass a criminal background check, TB test, and physical examination before starting the course. Full attendance at all classroom sessions is mandatory to meet the program requirements as set by the Indiana State Department of Health. Unsatisfactory performance or attendance issues may lead to dismissal from the course/program. Dress code requirements should be checked with the facility.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion and a scheduled test date. Miller’s Merry Manor will cover the test fee if the student is hired and remains in good standing as an employee. If a student does not pass the first test, Miller’s will cover the cost of a second attempt. Non-employees will receive their application and certificate of completion to schedule their own test at their expense.
