Free CNA training in Cedar Park, Round Rock and North Austin in Texas

Senior Care Centers is offering at no cost a five-week long training course to become a certified nurse aid.

The organization is the state’s largest provider of skilled nursing and long-term care with locations throughout the state and several in Central Texas. The five-week course is for anyone interested in working at one of its five locations in Cedar Park, Round Rock and North Austin.

The course is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily and includes clinical instruction, books and state-approved testing at no charge. A full-time CNA position with pay and benefits is offered after receiving certification through the training.

Graduates are expected to agree to remain in a CNA position for one year following completion of the course. Part-time employment as a hospitality aide is also available.

CNAs provide assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, toileting and oral care to residents who cannot perform the tasks alone. They also document vital signs and height and weight measurements.

Classes are held at the Trinity Care Center in Round Rock with clinical instruction held at Park Bend Health Center in North Austin.

According to a SCC news release, the course is valued at about $1,100.
