Free CNA Classes in WV, Mercer and Greenbrier Counties

New River Community and Technical College is opening doors to new healthcare careers this fall with free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) courses available in both Mercer and Greenbrier counties. These programs blend classroom instruction with hands-on clinical practice, giving students the skills and confidence needed to begin rewarding careers in patient care.

Mercer County CNA Class

The Mercer County session begins October 29 and runs through December 19. Students will meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (with some extended days ending at 3:30 p.m.).

Classes will take place at New River CTC’s Raleigh Street location in Bluefield, while clinical training will be held at the Princeton Healthcare Center.

Greenbrier Valley Campus CNA Class

For students in Greenbrier County, the program begins October 28 and continues through December 17. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Instruction will be based in the Arts and Sciences Building at New River CTC’s Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg, with clinical experience provided at the Lewisburg Healthcare Center.

No-Cost Opportunity

There is no tuition cost for these CNA classes. Students are only responsible for fingerprinting fees associated with the WV CARES background check.

A Launchpad for a Healthcare Career

New River CTC’s CNA program is designed to prepare participants for entry-level positions in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. It also serves as a foundation for future nursing or medical education, offering a valuable first step toward a long-term healthcare career.
