What is a Certified Nursing Assistant?
A Certified Nursing Assistant is someone who works as a support to nurses in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities. They help with a wide range of duties to help the nurses with their care duties. They perform basic tasks such as giving injections and holding a patient’s hand.
Nursing assistants also provide emotional support to patients who are feeling nervous or scared. They also monitor patients’ vital statistics at night by watching the pulse and oxygen intake. CNAs can also help with administering medication and keeping track of that medication.
What Does a CNA Do?
CNA’s provide non-invasive, supportive care to their patients. They are the first people that patients see when they wake up in the morning, and they are there when they fall asleep at night. CNAs help clean wounds and apply bandages to cuts and scrapes while also making sure their patients’ hygiene is kept up to date.
CNA’s are also responsible for administering medications to patients. They know when the best time to administer medication is, and they keep track of the dosage of medication and its expiration date.
A CNA’s main duty is to make sure that their patients are given the assistance they need during times of illness or pain. CNAs are also required to provide emotional support and comfort to their patients. As nurses’ assistants, CNAs fill in for nurses when necessary so that nurses can take care of other important duties at the hospital or nursing home.
