Surgical Asepsis

Surgical asepsis is the exclusion of all microorganisms before they can enter an open surgical wound or contaminate a sterile field during surgery. As many experts say, protection is better than cure and that should always be in mind especially for nurses and nursing assistants that will be caring for the patients.

Maintaining the sterility of things is one way of making sure that clients will not be carrying microorganisms that will cause them infection and later make them sick. Avoid touching sterile things especially when you are inside a sterile field  and do not touch sterile things before, during and after surgeries. Even during simple procedures such as inserting a catheter, avoid touching the tip of the catheter and other sterile materials so that infection can  be prevented.
