Hair Care

There are no standard hair care procedures for CNAs. Each facility has their own guidelines and policies when it comes to hair care and shampooing.  In some places doctors orders are required, in others not.

Regardless of what the facilities procedures are, each resident has their own unique way of grooming themselves. That is why it is a necessity for nursing assistants to be sensitive to patients hair care needs.

The best way to determine the right approach for each resident is to consult them and/or their families as they know how to manage their hair according to their preferences and culture.

Some residents prefer to have their hair care done by a cosmetician therefore you should also respect their decision.
