So while the CNA training is not free here, it is quite affordable.
Waukesha County Technical College
Waukesha County Technical College has a three-credit paid and free Nursing Assistant program consisting of a 120-hour training schedule that meets the Department of Health Services standards. In this kind of healthcare course, students gain proficiency in essential nursing assistant skills through classroom lectures, skills demonstrations, as well as hands-on clinical practice in a nursing laboratory. Gateway has an approved waiver from DHS allowing the college to offer Emergency Nurse Aide Program. This is a 75hour training that will lead to nurse aid certification and inclusion on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry. The course includes classroom, hands-on lab simulation work, and clinical experience to equip you for the Wisconsin State exam.
During the 75hour training, students will be required to demonstrate communication skills, basic nursing assistant and personal care skills, attention to patient’s rights, and care of clients with dementia.
You become a Certified Nursing Aide after successfully passing both portions, that is skills and knowledge required in the state nurse aide competency exam.
The CNA Training Program at Gateway Technical College has two credits. The estimated cost of tuition and fees is $330 and books and supplies cost $213. Plus if you qualify for outside scholarship you may get free CNA training here. Either way it is a very low cost option to consider. To take this course you must be 16 years of age or older. You should have a High School diploma or GED or submit Accuplacer Test scores.
Moraine Park Technical College
Moraine Park Nursing Assistant program prepares you to obtain Wisconsin state licensure to be able to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state. Clearview Long Term Care and Rehab
Clearview Long Term Care and Rehab offers a free CNA training program that is 120hours long of instruction. The classes run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for a period of 5weeks. The class runs for 6 hours each day. The classes are flexible with day and evening classes offered at the institution. The day classes run from 7 am to 1 pm, whilst the evening classes run from 4 pm to 10 pm.
The Clearview Long-Term Care and Rehab cost $350 per student. The class fee can, however, be waived if you sign an agreement to work at Clearview for one year.
All instruction and all clinical experience and exams are completed on site. The state exam is scheduled for you.
Interested applicants must meet the requirements of the program such as a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a criminal background check, TB test, and a drug screening result. They also need to pass the interviews and exams to be given a slot in the free CNA training program. Selected candidates will go through a combined format of classroom lectures and hands-on clinical practice which will take place in a local healthcare facility.
The classroom lectures will cover various nursing topics such as basic anatomy and physiology, nutrition, infection control, activities of daily living, range of motion, medical terminologies, and many others. On the other hand, the clinical practice will be held in a local medical setting under the supervision of a licensed preceptor. The Nursing Assistant training program is rooted in 5 principles of care, that is Privacy, Dignity, Independence, Communication, and Safety. The course is led by Registered Nurses who have completed a training course and meet all federal training courses and meet all Federal, State, and American Red Cross Instructor requirements.
The course involves a blended type of learning, you will complete the theory, activities, and videos at home covering the material online. The clinical portion will be scheduled at a Skilled Nursing Facility which will be assigned at the beginning of class.
The total cost of tuition at CMG is $1,620, this includes the tuition, application fee, fingerprinting CPR certification, uniform, and equipment. The prospective student is responsible for a tuberculosis test, State Certification exam, and returned check fee. For a free CNA training option, you should contact financial aid office and see what the options are. Currently they do not advertise any.
Students enrolling in the Nurse Assistant Training Program should be at least 16 years old. Aspiring students without a US High School Diploma or GED will be required to undertake and pass the TABE test before admission. A fingerprint background check for the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry must be completed. Students must also meet health requirements defined by the director of Nursing.

The CNA training program at the institute is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, R.E.A.L Nurse Educate is an eligible training provider for the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. R.E.A.L Nurse Educate provides two different phases of learning, is the classroom phase and the clinical phase.
During the classroom phase, you will learn basic principles of healthcare, you also learn about human physiology, basic care principles, safety protocols, ethical considerations in healthcare among others. In this classroom setting, you have an opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed atmosphere.
