Description:

The Nursing Assistant Training offered by Cactus Wren Training Program, LLC is approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The course consists of 60 hours of Classroom, 20 hours of the Skills Laboratory, and 40 hours of the Clinicals or the Nursing Home.

The Classroom hours will be focused on the basic nursing skills and knowledge to perform the nursing assistant tasks. These will include but not limited to, Techniques on Transfer, How to Take Vital Signs, Blood Pressure, Temperature, Pulse, Respiration, How to Assist the Nurse in Admitting, Transferring, or Discharging. The trainee is required to score 80% on the Chapter Examinations and the Final Examination prior to Clinical or Nursing Home Placement.

During the Skills Laboratory, the trainee is expected to perform the required 21 skills for minimum competency testing by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and pass 90% of the Steps to the Skills.

The Clinical hours will consist of hands-on experience in a long term care facility. The trainee will be evaluated on the Skills Accuracy and Effectiveness of Work, Output/Performance Speed, Technical Knowledge of CAN Skills and the Ability to Apply it, Initiative Ability to Exercise Self Reliance and Enterprise, Attitude and Cooperation , Dependability Willingness to Accept responsibility to Follow through, Attendance and Reliability, Courtesy with Patients and other Team members, and Personal Appearance.

The Nursing Assistant Training Program is offered: a.) Morning from 9-215p, b.) Evenings 4-915p, Mondays through Thursdays for a total of six weeks of training, and c.) Weekends Saturdays from 9-0530p for a total of three months.

At the end of the training, the Trainee will be eligible to take the Arizona State Board of Nursing CNA License.
